L'Oreal Color Juice Sheer Juicy Lip Gloss Review & Giveaway

012
010 I’m a big fan of Lancome Juicy Tube Lip Gloss: the love the pretty shades and the scrumptious scents! And at first look L’Oreal Color Juice Sheer Juicy Lip Gloss looks identical to the Lancome Juicy Tube! Similar in packaging and some of the available shades and the promise of juicy scents but with a price difference: L’Oreal being more affordable (but this lip gloss is still bit more pricier than most other drugstore lip glosses). So of course I HAD to try them out… I was tempted to pick out bright color tube like “Melon Punch” but I recently bought several bright lip glosses so I went with more neutral/nude color tubes: I bought Butterscotch and Pina Colada.
Pros
  • Affordable (goes on sale and BOGO deals often)
  • Great scent but no taste
  • Shiny but not glittery: glossy finish with subtle shimmers
  • Non-sticky
  • Moisturizing

Cons
  • Most shades look similar when applied
  • Color doesn’t show like it appears in the tube; not very pigmented; sheer
  • Not long lasting; lasts less than an hour
  • The round tip applicator is not very precise

Here are swatches: Butterscotch on top and Pina Colada on bottom.

Overall, I like these lip glosses. They may look and sound like Lancome Juicy Tubes but L’Oreal Juice Color Lip Glosses are not exactly dupes of Lancome Juicy Tubes. The colors are bit more sheer and it’s also not as sticky. The formula is somewhat thick but not sticky as the Lancome Juicy Tube Lip Glosses.
However, Lancome Juicy Tubes have more color selection. Maybe L’Oreal will release more shades in the future… Also, each tube has cute yummy names (like Pina Colada, Melon Punch, and Butterscotch), and I assumed that the tube of “Pina Colada” will smell like pina colada and the “Butterscotch” tube smell like butterscotch, however, both “Pina Colada” and “Butterscotch” have the same undistinguishable fruity scent. It’s a pleasant yummy scent but nothing like pina colada or butterscotch!.
Now on to the giveaway….
This giveaway is for my Twitter and Blog followers.
I’m giving away 2 new L’Oreal Color Juice Sheer Juicy Lip Glosses (Butterscotch and   Pina Colada).

JOE FRESH STYLE NAIL POLISHES

091
092
These Joe Fresh Style nail polishes are $4 per color. And when I purchased these, the store (Loblaws) was having a BOGO sale! I’m not sure of the BOGO sale is still on but at $4 per color these polishes are definitely worth the buy!
My favorite color (from the ones I’ve tried) is “FIG” which is a lavender-ish/light purple color (shown below but not included in the above group picture). Pastel colors are super cute for the spring and summer seasons and Joe Fresh Style has an extensive collection of pastel/matt colors!
017 021

The bottles themselves do not have names of the color on them. Which is a bit strange… Maybe there was sticker labels on them but they peeled off? (As did some of my Joe Fresh Style lipstick labels came off too) But it’s unlikely that labels of all 6 Joe Fresh Style nail polishes I have all some how peeled off without my knowledge…lol (I went online to get the names of each polishes: http://www.joe.ca/en/bath_beauty/products/nails/)
While I was on the Joe Fresh Style webiste I found a coupon you can print out to get $10 off $50 purchase of Joe Fresh Style products (http://www.joe.ca/en/coupon/login.aspx).
So each bottle of polish comes with 6mL of product. It’s small but c’mon how many nail polishes do we ever actually finish? For that reason I kind of like the fact that the bottles are small sized. I also like the fact that the brush handle is short: I feel like the short handle gives me more control. What I don’t like are the actual bristles of the brushes. The bristles are coarse and rough. With the first layer application, the thick streaks that the rough bristles left are very noticeable.
 098100
But the actual polish mixture made up for the poor brush bristles. With a second layer application, the rough streaks become less noticeable and most of it disappears as the polish dries up and the surface becomes smooth (you might need bit of time getting used to letting the streaks smooth out by itself, trying to fix it with the brush will just make it worse).
The lasting power is pretty good; definitely better than some Revlon nail polishes I’ve tried. I wore two coats without top coat for 3 days without any chip! I’m pretty rough with my hands so 3 days without chipping (and without top coat) is pretty impressive for a product that costs $4!
101 102
There are 27 or 28 different colors in the Joe Fresh Style nail polish collection. There are few metallic colors but most are satin finish matt colors. The above “Gunmetal” color is the only metallic finish I bought. As the name suggests, it’s a dark grey silverish gunmetal color. The matt colors give a really nice shiny finish even without a top coat whereas this metallic color gives a dull finish: top coat is a must for this one!
Now on to more pastel matt colors (with satin finish),
104 106 110  109
I picked up 5 satin finish matt color nail polishes (fig, butter, coral, mint, and pink). I'm pretty much set for spring and summer as for nail polish colors!LOL I absolutely love these polishes (except for the rough bristles on the brush thing that I mentioned above :P). The colors are vibrant and they give a shiny plastic feeling finish (except for “gunmetal” color). The color “Mint” is a great dupe for Essie’s “Mint Candy Apple” and Revlon’s “Minted.”
112
I’ll be giving away a bottle of Joe Fresh Style Mint nail polish as part of my Joe Fresh Style Cosmetics Review(eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglosses, cheek tint, blush, nail polishes, and brushes) and Giveaway on YouTube. (coming soon! follow me on twitter for first hand giveaway announcements) Here’s a sneak preview of the giveaway prizes!

Pretty Blushes/Highlighters with Patterns & Prints (Dior, YSL, MAC, Clinique & more)

085
This post is about my collection of blushes and highlighters that has patterns and/or prints embossed on them. These cosmetics not only look beautiful on my skin but they are also pretty to just look at! One negative thing to point out would be that most of the embossing and prints on these products will fade with usage (unless they are superimposed or patterned in the entire product).
043
DIOR BRONZE
HARMONIE DE BLUSH
SUNSHINE TONES
001
ROSE BRAZILIA

049

The different colors in this products makes it a versatile blush, highlighter and bronzer. The gold freckles over the Dior embossing and lines that separate the colors are a great added bonus (as it gives a very pretty and subtle gold sparks to the colors) but unfortunately the gold freckles will fade with usage. The swatch (in above picture) on the right is that of just the center peach-ish color part; the swatch to the left is when all the colors are mixed. This compact comes with a mini brush that fits within the compact; the bristles are soft.

DIORSKIN
SHIMMER POWDER
(POUDRE SHIMMER)
001
ROSE DIAMOND

057

This is a very sparkly and shimmery highlighter. It can also be used as all over face brightener. It has five different shades ranging from iridescent white, skin tone, baby pink, bronzy pink, and rosy pink. A fair skinned person can use the right side of this product as blush; a very shimmery light pink blush. I can easily use the different colors on their own or mix some or all the colors together depending on which part of the face I want to highlight. I think this product is too sparkly and shimmery to be worn during daytime unless used with very light hand and very minimally to highlight just small parts of the face. This would be a perfect product to be used for a night out; it will give a multi toned iridescent shimmers to anywhere I apply it! I’ve even used this on the decollate:)
063
DIOR
PODRIER DENTELLE
ILLUMINATING LACE-EFFECT POWER FOR FACE
001 PINK LACE

065

This is a limited edition product; the compact case is very heavy! The lace embossing will fade with use but the actual color under the embossing is part of the entire product. The very top layer of the lace embossing has added white shimmers. these shimmers are quite chunky, almost like glitter. But with just few uses the glittery layer fades away and you are left with a very light pearly pink powder. the center of the product is shimmery light pink powder. Both color powders are very soft and velvety in texture. This product is definitely better suited for someone who is very fair toned as both shades of pinks are very light and shimmery and it may just look like pearly white on people that are medium to dark toned.
071
YSL
PALETTE Y
COLLECTOR POWDER
FOR THE COMPLEXION

074

This limited edition collector powder come in a velvet pouch (as do the Dior compacts) and with a mini fan brush. The light peachy skin tone color is matt finish and the orange-ish brown part (the “y”) has very faint muted shimmers that helps to make the color appear more glowing than a plain matt finished color. Both color powders are very finely milled and apply soft. the colors can be used on their own (the lighter color as all over finishing powder  or highlighter and darker color as blush or bronzer) or they can be mixed and used all over the face. Yes the stitching embossing will fade but I’ve used mine over 20 times and the stitching embossing is still there!
072
YSL
PALETTE POP
COLLECTOR POWDER
FOR FACE & CHEEKS

075

This is another YSL limited edition collector powder. The light skin toned color in this one is bit more on the cooler tone than the one from Palette Y; it’s a luminescent matt finish that can be used all over the face as finishing powder or as highlighter. The pollen part of both flowers (the pollen on the smaller flower faded) and the lettering of the word “love” are done with glittery deep pink. The flower shaped brown color powder can be used to warm up the face or as bronzer for fair skin tones. The smaller coral flower powder can be used on its own as blush. When the both flowers and the glittery pollens and word is swirled up it creates a very pretty glittery hot pink (not shown in the above swatches).
069 Both of these YSL collector powders are very good in quality (as expected from YSL); whether used with a brush or powder puff, there is no powder flying around but at the same time both powders feel very soft and are long lasting.
I can’t wait to try the latest YSL collector powders! The below two products are the current limited edition compacts.

Y-MAIL COMPLEXION PALETTES:
“This unique limited edition palette is a true collector’s item. Inspired by the YSL Y-MAIL Handbag Collection, this adorable complexion palette comes packaged in a YSL “handbag” of its very own. Available in two shades: #1 highlights the face with three light pearly shades and #2 highlights the complexion with three luminous silky shades.” (www.yslbeautyus.com)
I can’t wait  to try these out!! But which one should I get??? Or both??lol

I do have few more of these patterned and superimposed printed compact blushes and highlighters but for now I’m going to end this blog post here (my eyes feel super tired…lol..maybe I'll talk about rest of the products after I get the YSL Y-MAIL COMPLEXION PALETTES!lol). Please check out the below album for rest of my collection and feel free to ask questions about any products in the album.
