23YearsOld Badecasil Cream has quickly become a cult favourite among many skin care connoisseurs in Korea. It's especially popular for acne-prone skin types, but overall it's a great all-in-one night cream to deeply penetrate the skin to clear out blackheads and whiteheads while replenishing moisture to the skin. When I got hit with my acne attack of the year this summer, I decided to try out 23YearsOld Badecasil Cera3 Cream. I went with the Badecasil Cera3 Cream instead of the original Badecasil Cream mainly because it's a gentler, more hydrating version of its' predecessor. I started with the Badecasil Cera3 Cream with hopes that it will help to repair my damaged skin with Betaine Salicylate, and moisturise and protect my skin with Ceramide...
Both 23YearsOld Badecasil Cream and Badecasil Cera3 Cream contain Glycolic Acid and Betaine Salicylate that many of us are familiar with, along with Centella Asiatica extract which is rich in amino acids, beta carotene, fatty acids, as well as various phytochemicals. Centella Asiatica has been steadily becoming a popular ingredient of choice for many acne skin care products but it actually does much more than just soothe acne. Centella Asiatica is found to calm inflammation, speed wound healing, build collagen, and stimulate new cell growth.
Some of the differences between the Badecasil Cream and the Badecasil Cera3 Cream is that the Badecasil Cera3 Cream has 1% Glycolic acid whereas the original Badecasil Cream has 4% (both have 2% Betaine Salicylate and pH lower than 4). Also, the Badecasil Cera3 Cream, as the name suggests, has Ceramide 3, thus making it more appealing to dry and dehydrated skin types.

I'm not too well educated in the world of skin care ingredients (especially the harmful ones), but I'm pretty decent at picking out the skin friendly ones. And other than the ones already mentioned, here are some additional notable contributing ingredients from the Badecasil Cera3 Cream: Snail extract, Camomile, Panthenol, Bacocalmine. I'm not going to delve much more into the ingredients or science behind them in this post. Mainly because I lack the broad knowledge to effectively explain the interactions of various ingredients, but also because I love to review products in terms of what they actually did for my skin rather than the theories behind why and how they were made.
Both the original Badecasil Cream and the Badecasil Cera3 Cream are daily overnight cleansing masks rather than just night creams. I'm calling them overnight cleansing masks but both come labeled simply as 'cream.' So when I first started using 23YearsOld Badecasil Cera3 Cream, I used it along with my usual layerings of few or more skincare products etc... but, alas, after a week of not seeing all the wonderful benefits that many reviewers raved about, I finally did what I should've done prior to using this product: research online! After throughly reading the recommended use by 23YearsOld, as well as several different blogposts (there actually weren't any helpful reviews of the Badecasil Cera3 Cream but many about the original Badecasil Cream), I tinkered and tweaked my skin care routine to include proper use of the Badecasil Cera3 Cream. And finally I started to see results!
23YearsOld Badecasil Cera3 is referred as a balm type product by some Korean bloggers I came across, but the texture is more of a watery gel-ish cream. It's light yellow in colour, and gets absorbed into the skin quite well when used alone. My skin felt wonderfully refreshed and hydrated after application, so much so that I was tempted to use it as a morning moisturiser before makeup. And as an experimenter at heart, I actually did try using it that way and that was a big mistake! This product is to be strictly used as a last step to skin care at nights or as a wash-off mask in mornings. It works best overnight because it works throughout the night to draw out skin impurities to the surface to be washed off in the morning. And rather than massaging in the cream to absorb it into the skin, it actually works more effectively if you just apply a thick layer and let the product do the work. Also, the Badecasil Cera3 Cream works best used just on its own right after toner (and booster essence), with no other serums or oils.
So here's what 23YearOld Badecasil Cera3 Cream did for my skin: after using it for 3-4 days I noticed that it helped to draw out the gunk from blackheads and whiteheads and made my skin feel very soft and supple in the morning. When I realised the Badecasil Cera3 Cream's potential, I decided to get serious and used it consistently for over four weeks. Three out of seven days a week, I used it as a wash off mask because I couldn't completely give up my serums and oils, and twice a week I also combined it with either AHA or BHA gel/booster type of product. My skin became less prone to whiteheads and blackheads overall, and existing whiteheads and blackheads were significantly reduced at a faster rate compared to before using the Badecasil Cera3 Cream. And my skin felt well hydrated and plump in mornings that I found myself using less and less skin smoothing primers prior to makeup.
As for treating current active acne, 23YearsOld Badecasil Cera3 didn't do much on it's own. But it did help smooth away old acne and prevent new ones. I would've never tried this product if it wasn't for my acne ordeal and I'm so glad I did because I ended up discovering a great product.
Who would I recommend 23YearsOld Badecasil Cera Cream to? Anyone who wants smoother makeup friendly skin in mornings no matter the skin type!
